"It's Probably Just a Migraine..." Until It Wasn't

She Was Told It Was "Probably Just a Migraine"

What happens when you lose your speech... get told it's probably a migraine... and then later learn you actually had a stroke?

This week on Stroke Talks, I sat down with Che-Lei, a fellow carotid web stroke survivor, to talk about her frightening journey, the importance of trusting your instincts, and why self-advocacy can save your life.

One of the most powerful parts of our conversation was discussing what people think a stroke survivor looks like versus reality. Che-Lei didn't fit the stereotype, and that's exactly why more awareness is needed.

We also talked about the signs of stroke that don't get enough attention, the emotional impact of recovery, aphasia, and the invisible challenges many survivors face long after they leave the hospital.

If you've ever thought, "I'm too young to have a stroke," or "I would know if someone was having a stroke," this conversation is for you.

Watch the full interview and hear Che-Lei's incredible story for yourself. Or LISTEN on Spotify.

Because stroke doesn't always look the way people expect.

Hey Reader, Our last Mingle Monday was filled with honesty, encouragement, and plenty of “me too” moments.
